Cold Lake, AB – To create extra housing spaces in the community, council is considering implementing a secondary suite incentive program.

Cold Lake, AB – A wildland fire in Tri City on the weekend had many residents concerned.
“It’s a dry start to the summer, so a lot of fires are popping up right now,” said Mayor Craig Copeland.
The fire started late in the evening on April 27, and was estimated at approximately 15 metres by 30 metres in size. Cold Lake Fire-Rescue responded and got the fire quickly under control. A second, smaller fire was also found and extinguished along a trail between two homes in the same neighbourhood.

Smoking bylaw changed to allow smudging
Cold Lake, AB – An amendment to the smoking bylaw now allows for Indigenous ceremonial use of smoked products for smudging and/or pipe ceremonies to be permitted within City facilities. Previously, no smoke of any kind was permitted. Cold Lake, AB – Cold Lake will be the stage sponsor of Extreme Mudfest this August.
After a presentation to Council earlier this month about the event, which included statistics of the event from previous years, council decided to become the Official Stage Sponsor at an amount of $20,000.

Cold Lake, AB – The City of Cold Lake will use a $144,000 grant from the Province of Alberta to complete a study for airport certification that could ultimately see scheduled air services brought to the airport.
