A Transportation Master Plan sets the direction for how the City will build, maintain and operate the different transportation options, including roads, sidewalks, trails, and pathways. It reflects the growth and directions set out in other City plans and policies such as Municipal Development Plan, Intermunicipal Development Plans, as well as changes to the Municipal Government Act. The Transportation Master Plan also incorporates relevant existing information and plans available in Area Structure Plans.
Updating the Transportation Master Plan will help identify system improvements, confirm that models and assumptions for users are updated, and find ways to improve the network level of service for the future growth and needs of Cold Lake.

The City of Cold Lake will be hosting an Open House event to give the public an opportunity to learn more about the City's Transportation Master Plan. City officials will be on hand to answer any questions or address any concerns you may have.
An online survey will also be open from Dec. 5 - Dec. 19.
February 2025: Final report anticipated to be complete

Dec. 5, 2024: ISL Engineering has been retained for the Master Plan Update. A draft report is being created and an open house is scheduled.
The City of Cold Lake Master Plans are updated periodically and the recent Transportation Master Plan was completed in 2012. As many new planning documents have been implemented since the previous plan an update to the Transportation Master Plan is required.
Approved budget: $175,000.00

An updated Transportation Master Plan will help the City of Cold Lake understand the current state of the transportation network and provide a higher level of service to the users.
The Transportation Master Plan Update follows the strategic alignment by providing the City of Cold Lake with the most up to date information regarding its Asset Network. The Transportation Master Plan also algins with the City’s Asset Management Policy to understand the current risks and levels of service of the transportation network and are considered by council to be able to make informed design and programming decisions and allocate funding based on the projections provided in the Master Plan.
