Any person or business providing a product/service or operating any business in the city of Cold Lake must hold a current City of Cold Lake business licence.
This applies to any business operating inside city limits, even if the business is based outside the city. If the business offers goods or services to consumers inside the city of Cold Lake, a business licence is required. First, determine which type of business licence you require. The three categories are listed below. Download the appropriate application form or pick one up at City Hall. Submit the form along with the fee, a copy of the title or letter from the landlord/property manager and any other required documentation, to the Planning & Development department at City Hall. Please refer to the City of Cold Lake Trading Area Map to ensure you apply for the correct business licence.

All business licenses expire December 31 of the year for which they were issued. The renewal process typically begins in November. The City also offers daily, weekly and quarterly business licences. See the table below for late renewal fees.

No. If you sell your business, the new owner must apply for their own business license and obtain their own approvals. If you move your business to a new location, you must notify the Planning & Development department to receive a new license for your new address.
If you're constructing a new building, altering an existing building, or changing the use of a property for your business (including adding a home-based business to your residence), you require a development permit and may require a building permit.
