The operation of Taxis and issuance of Taxi Driver Permits are regulated by the City of Cold Lake in accordance with Taxi Bylaw #760-PL-22. To apply for a Taxi Driver Permit, you will require the following information:
The completed application form and all supporting documentation will be reviewed by a Community Peace Officer in accordance with the requirements specified in Section 5 of the Taxi Bylaw.
If your application is approved, we will contact you within seven (7) to 10days. Permits are valid for 365 days from the date of issuance.
If your application is declined, a letter will be provided stating why your application does not meet the requirements of the Bylaw. The appeals process is outlined in Section 6 of the Bylaw.
All vehicles operated as taxis in the City of Cold Lake must meet the requirements outlined in the taxi Bylaw, and must provide an Out of Province Vehicle Inspection Certificate (OPVIC). If requested, the City will provide a letter to the taxi driver of the request for the driver to obtain an OPVIC. All vehicles operated as taxis must be registered with the City of Cold Lake and carry a valid registration sticker issued by the City on the windshield.
