Energy Centre members: Registration for fitness class drop-ins opens Sunday each week. Please call the Energy Centre at 780-639-6400 to register for the upcoming week. Non-members: Please register online HERE or in person at the Energy Centre for the full class course, or call an hour before the class for availability for drop-ins.
Instructor-led fitness classes are free for Energy Centre membership holders, but a membership is not required to attend. Classes typically for eight weeks and can purchased by the full session or by paying individual class drop-in fees. Drop-in spots are limited and based on class capacity. Drop-in participants must pay their drop-in fee at the Energy Centre front desk no more than 30 minutes prior to the class start time. Fitness Class Descriptions |
Abdominal Assault Get your heart rate high and your midsection toned with this combo cardio and core class. Using as many cardiorespiratory activities we have at our disposal, in combination with beginner all the way to advanced midsection movements, this class is perfect for anyone looking to add some much needed movement into their training program. Barre Sculpt Barre Sculpt is a low impact, high intensity workout. This class will include a full body and complete muscle burnout; working to sculpt and tone your body with small movement and high repetition. Barre is based on rhythm and ballet-style. Dance experience is not required. We are influenced by ballet positions which will be explained by the instructor. No class is ever the same. Each class will have a warm-up, weighted work, balancing, sculpting and cool down. All are welcome! There will be options for modifications provided throughout the class. Bend & Mend This is a beginner's class. We spend the first half hour warming up the joints and muscles in standing poses, while channeling our intention with slow, deep breaths in every pose. We then transition to seated poses for the next 15 minutes, ending in a supine (laying) position of full relaxation. Core Mobility The goal of this class focuses on pain management and total-body alignment. You will improve your posture and build core muscle groups through a variety of stability/mobility exercises designed to strengthen your abdomen and back muscles while also increasing your flexibility. Foam rolling, stretching and core exercises using a variety of equipment adapted to you is what this class is about! All fitness levels welcome. Fitness 101 Designed to provide participants with the knowledge and skills to take their fitness to the next level using proper technique and progressive overload options. Participants will learn to identify muscle imbalances, create stability within their joints, and address flexibility, mobility and ROM (range of motion) within the body. Gentle Flow Yoga This class is a gentle flow class that begins with a poem and concludes with gentle breath work. The approach to poses is soft in tone with less analysis and explanation of alignment. A perfect way to soften into your heart as you move your body and deepen your breath with awareness. HIIT Boot Camp A total-body strength and conditioning workout served up circuit style. New and varying body weight and weight movements introduced every class will keep your body guessing and fast track your fitness goals. All fitness levels welcome. HIIT Cycling A high-intensity spin format where participants are led through various speed and resistance drills to achieve a heart-pumping cardio workout with tunes to motivate and energize! Focusing on endurance, strength, intervals and recovery, you will be challenged to strengthen your body and mind. Appropriate for all fitness levels. Jumping Fitness A rebounding trampoline HIIT (high-intensity interval training) class that offers a full-body workout, focused primarily on strength training and cardiovascular conditioning. It's one of the least impactful forms of cardio exercise and is suitable for all levels of fitness. The first two weeks are focused on cardio training, balance and core conditioning. The following weeks move into a boot camp-style hybrid class focused on full-body strength training and cardiovascular conditioning. Seniors’ Functional Training Functional training to increase an individual’s capacity to perform daily living activities with ease and safety. Addresses muscle imbalances, mobility and strength. These movements include: hinging, pushing, pulling, squatting, lunging, twisting and walking. TRX Power Hour Delivers a fast, effective total body workout that builds a rock-solid core, builds strength, balance, coordination, flexibility, joint stabilization and more. This class is great for people of all fitness levels. Yin Yoga Postures are explored for 3-5 minutes allowing the body to slowly open and the mind to calm. This way of practicing puts gentle pressure on the connective tissue and energetic system, allowing for greater flexibility and energy flow. The relaxed pace and long holds also invite observation of the mental-emotional body. Zumba If you love a high-energy class that is low-impact and FUN, this class is for you! Zumba brings the energy and the party vibes to make you feel like you are on a vacation going all around the world. With flavours from all over, Zumba is sure to have a style that you enjoy. This class is for all fitness levels! The great part about this class is it will escalate those good vibes and leave you SMILING and feeling GREAT! |
Cancellation Policy |
Fitness classes require at least three participants to run as scheduled. If the minimum class registration is not met, the class will be cancelled. Registrants will be contacted and their accounts will be credited. |
Withdrawing from a program |
Participants may withdraw from a full (8 week) program if written notice is provided at least 72 hours before the scheduled program start time. A service charge of $2.00 will be charged. A service charge of $10.00 will be charged for a full program withdrawal less than 72 hours before the start of the scheduled program. Withdrawal with no penalty or service charge will be considered on a case by case basis when the participant can produce:
All program withdrawals will be credited to the participant's account. Credits are available for up to six (6) months from the date of the withdrawal. Following six (6) months, the credit will expire. |
