Intermunicipal Trails Master Plan

The City of Cold Lake and the Municipal District of Bonnyville are collaborating on an intermunicipal trails master plan that will help guide the development, enhancement and management of regional local trails for the next 5-10 years. The plan will generate a clear understanding of what trail experiences we have currently, how well they are meeting our needs, what trail experiences we want in the future and how we can make them happen.

Public Engagement

The public engagement phase of this project has was completed in the fall of 2022. The City would like to thank everyone who provided us with their feedback.

What trails?

This plan will explore and consider trails throughout urban and rural areas across the region for both winter and summer recreation, leisure, tourism and active transportation purposes. Although focusing on City and M.D. trails, it will also contemplate trails on public land that could be considered for operation.

Following the Oct. 10, 2023 regular meeting, council unanimously voted to adopt the Intermunicipal Trails Master Plan as presented. To review the document in its entirety, click here.
