Building #5 wears a few different hats. Located at 1301-16 Street beside the public works shop, it’s a water reservoir, a pump house and a truck fill station.
Water is pumped from the water treatment plant and stored here in the reservoir. The reservoir can hold over 4.5 million litres of water. That’s almost enough to fill two Olympic-size swimming pools. The reservoir distributes water to all of Cold Lake North and Cold Lake First Nations. 2.2 million litres of water is consumed in Cold Lake North every day. The pump house has four pumps and is capable of pumping almost 500 litres of water per second. The building also serves as a truck fill station. Rural residents who do not have access to the City’s water distribution network haul their water from the truck fill station to their home or business. They can purchase water directly from the fill station using coins or a monthly account.
