Cold Lake, AB – Council approved grants to help 23 local groups that submitted applications to the City of Cold Lake’s Community Recreation, Art, Culture and Heritage Investment Grant Program.
Over $95,000 in grant monies was dispersed to the 23 Cold Lake groups and associations in the spring intake of applications. The groups represented a cross section of the community that works to ensure the City offers a strong, healthy and diverse quality of life for all who live here.
From sports tournaments and cultural festivals, to recreational and educational activities, the applicants not only provide great opportunities for Cold Lake residents to participate in and enjoy, but their activities bring economic activity to the City and the surrounding region.
“Since COVID ended, Cold Lake has become a hub for events and festivals in this region,” said Mayor Craig Copeland. “Whether it’s venues, accommodations, dining or even volunteers, we have the infrastructure and amenities to handle these events. From provincial tournaments to events like Feast at the Beach, the groups who’ve applied for the grants are the ones that are making things happen, they are bringing people to our community. The City is happy to be in a position to help.”
The Community Recreation, Art, Culture and Heritage Investment Grants are offered four times a year – spring, summer, fall and winter. While the spring and summer intakes see most of the applications, the Spring 2023 intake was the highest the Grant Committee had seen and that speaks well to the activity that is happening in the City of Cold Lake.
The summer intake deadline is August 3; to learn more about the grant and the process required, plus other available grants, please visit www.coldlake.com/grants
