Cold Lake, AB – The Government of Alberta has announced new COVID-19 restrictions for recreation facilities that will prevent food and drink from being consumed at the Energy Centre, regardless of whether the Restrictions Exemption Program is in effect.

Booster Juice and the Gameday Grill will remain open for takeout; however, the new restrictions will prevent food and drink from being consumed inside the facility.

The updated restrictions are intended to come into force on December 24, 2021. Although the health order has not been formally posted at this time, the City of Cold Lake will monitor any forthcoming health orders to understand the details of the restrictions.

The government of Alberta announced that:

• Indoor facilities that participate in the Restrictions Exemption Program:
• Must limit capacity to:
• 50% if venue seats more than 1,000 people.
• 500 people if venue seats between 500 and 1,000 people.
• No food and drink consumption in seated audience settings or during intermissions in the above-mentioned venues.
• No capacity or food/drink change for venues under 500 people.
• Indoor facilities that do not implement the Restrictions Exemption Program (no change):
• Limit capacity to 1/3 fire code occupancy.
• Require attendees to be with household members only, or 2 close contacts if they live alone.
