Cold Lake, AB – The Cold Lake Mountain Bike Park is seeing another addition this fall, focusing on completion of the trail system and the skills section of the park.

Over the last two years, construction of the park has progressed in segments, allowing the park to be used in between developments. This year will include three kilometres of intermediate to advanced-level trails, a beginner to advanced-level pump track, progressive jumps, and a skills area for all levels of riders, though the construction of the skills portion will take additional construction seasons to complete.

“The Mountain Bike Park trails have proven to be extremely popular,” said Mayor Craig Copeland. “Riders throughout the region have been taking to the trails over the last couple of years, and we have received a lot of great feedback. Riders are excited for the skills section to be completed.”

Jay Hoots has returned to Cold Lake for these developments. Hoots has been working on the park since its inception, along with local riders and City staff.

The park will challenge all types riders, from beginners to advanced BMXers, fat bikes, as well as mountain (endurance) riding, dual slalom, and slopestyle riding. The skills park will leverage the slope of the hillside in front of the Cold Lake Museum and will be visible for people driving by, unlike the trails, which are mostly obscured by the tree line.
