A joint release with the Municipal District of Bonnyville:
During the January 14, 2025 Municipal District of Bonnyville council meeting, Reeve Barry Kalinski issued a challenge to City of Cold Lake Mayor Craig Copeland – to take part in a shootout showdown at the 86Cancer Charity Hockey Game on January 31, 2025.
The challenge will see the Reeve and Mayor in a shootout during intermission. Whoever sinks the least pucks must wear a shirt with the winner’s municipal logo on it to a future Council meeting.
“This is for a really great cause. Cancer touches so many lives in our area, and I wanted to shine a spotlight on this charity hockey game,” said Reeve Barry Kalinski.
“By challenging each other, we can also challenge our communities to come out and pack the seats at the charity hockey game,” said Mayor Craig Copeland. “Regardless of who wins, it’s sure to be a spectacular event for a great cause.”
The 86Charity Hockey Game has raised over $20,000 for the Bonnyville Cancer Clinic to support cancer-affected families in the Lakeland over the past three years. The game will be held at the Cold Lake Energy Centre starting at 7 p.m. on January 31, 2025.
Tickets are $10 each (kids under five get in free), and are available at Cold Lake Brewing and Distilling, Sylvestre’s Source For Sports in Bonnyville, Sunshine Game & Hobby in St. Paul, and at the door the night of the game. For more information, visit 86Cancer.ca.
