Cold Lake, AB – City Council is heading to Mardi Gras – via the Kids Time Out Diamonds and Studs Gala.

At their regular meeting on Jan. 23, council voted to become a Diamond-level sponsor of the event for $4,000, as well as purchase a table of tickets for $520, and donate a silent auction item. This funding comes from the Community Recreation, Art, Culture, and Heritage Investment Grant.

“Childcare in our community can be difficult to find right now for children that are in pre-school or younger,” said Deputy Mayor Bob Mattice. “This event is an important fundraiser for this non-profit organization.”

This year’s Diamonds and Studs Gala is themed after Mardi Gras, and open to all adults interested in purchasing a ticket to attend.

During a delegation to council, Kids Time Out Preschool noted their enrolment as doubled this year, and they have extended their full-day hours to accommodate working families. They also outlined how the funds raised from the gala will be used for new equipment, as well as renovations to parts of the building, such as bathrooms and sidewalks.
