Cold Lake, AB – At its May 28, 2024, regular meeting, council debated the latest recommendations of the Community Grant Advisory Committee.
A total of $40,300 was awarded to 11 groups through the Community Recreation, Art, Culture and Heritage Investment Grant Policy (CRACH) funding streams.
During its debate, council increased the recommended grants to the Cold Lake Regional Chamber of Commerce from $12,000 to $16,000, and reversed committee recommendations to deny applications made by the Lakeland Lacrosse Association and the Lakeland District Soccer Association.
“We are lucky to have groups who are dedicated to bringing tournaments and community events to Cold Lake and we are lucky to be in a position to help them with the important work that they do,” Cold Lake Mayor Craig Copeland said. “These events keep our community busy and stimulate the local economy by encouraging visitors. Our community benefits greatly from their work and council was happy to assist where we could.”
