Cold Lake, AB – Cold Lake City Council voted to accept the recommendation of the FCSS Advisory Committee to approve three grants totaling $22,750 under the City of Cold Lake’s Social Inclusion and Infrastructure Grant policy.

The Social Inclusion and Infrastructure Grant was developed by the City of Cold Lake to assist organizations that are seeking to fund projects aimed at assisting vulnerable people in the community. Successful applicants must have a program or project that will mitigate social issues through preventative or intervention-based initiatives, or both.

The grant was established as a five-year program which makes available $100,000 each year, with applications due by Oct. 1 each year. The program had its first intake in 2021, with its final intake set for 2025.

The successful applicants for the 2023 intake of the Social Inclusion and Infrastructure Grants were:

• Cold Lake Native Friendship Centre Society: $5,000 to assist with the cost of training required to provide culturally appropriate programs and services and to assist with positive community relationships with cultural knowledge.
• Age Friendly Cold Lake Society: $15,800 for costs associated with training, volunteer recognition, program supplies, and marketing their programs and services.
• Cold Lake John Howard Society: $1,950 to assist with training and program expenses related to their services aimed at addressing food insecurity and providing temporary shelter for those in need.
