Cold Lake, AB – The City of Cold Lake will be joining IndigiConnect, to help bring together Indigenous entrepreneurs, businesses, and professions with other local businesses.
“This organization can help Indigenous business to grow in our community,” said Mayor Craig Copeland. “We met with them at the end of October, and they had a lot of great plans and ideas.”
Council decided to go with a basic membership package for a year at the price of $1,200 and see what kind of opportunities are created to help Indigenous workforces grow in the area, both for employers and employees.
“There is an option to pursue a larger membership with this organization down the road if we see it helping people in our area,” said Copeland. “But for now, this is still a start.”
The basic membership will include job promotion for the City’s employment opportunities directly to the 7 First Nations.
According to IndigiConnect, they are dedicated to promotion economic prosperity while preserving and honouring Indigenous cultures, traditions, and values. Working in a digital space, they host an Indigenous Business Directory that serves as a tool to connect businesses, bridge gaps, and create opportunities.
