For immediate release
Cold Lake, AB – The City of Cold Lake is coming to a podcast near you.
“Casting in Cold Lake” will be a podcast featuring elected officials and administration from the city talking about current events, issues, and answering popular questions.
“Apparently we talk a lot,” joked Mayor Craig Copeland. “We definitely have a lot to say, so when the proposal of hosting our own podcast came up, council jumped at the opportunity.”
The initial episodes will feature the mayor, along with Chief Administrative Officer Kevin Nagoya. Future episodes are expected to have other members of council as well as special guests from various departments in the city, community groups, or from nearby municipalities.
“This will be a great way to reach the public and discuss topics that matter to them, without the time constraints that come with other forums,” Copeland said. “Once it is up and running we hope to be able to respond more directly to the public’s questions. This will allow us to discuss topics in depth in an informal setting, where we are not pressured by a hard-and-fast timeline.”
The first episode was recorded several weeks ago and covers several general topics including municipal taxes, the state of the local economy and how federal and provincial regulations impact the local economy. Our expectation is that future episodes will be recorded and released within a 24 to 48 hour period, allowing the show to be able to respond to timely issues and promote current events.
The first podcast will be available next week. The release will be announced on social media and on the city’s website, with links to the show. The podcast will be available for free through all major podcast providers. Residents with feedback and topics they would like to see covered can email city@coldlake.com.
