Approved Rural Renewal Stream applications total 54
Cold Lake, AB – The City of Cold Lake’s Economic Development Advisory Committee (EDAC) approved 27 applications to the Cold Lake Rural Renewal stream at its August 10 meeting, bringing the total number of applications approved to 54.
The 54 applications approved represent local businesses who are looking to fill 96 positions. The committee also approved another 14 requests for letter of nomination under the program, which now total 22. These letters will be sent to applicants who have received job offers through the program so that they can begin their application process with the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP).
“Our local business community has had a difficult time filling labour gaps, and we hope that this program will make progress in that regard,” Cold Lake Mayor Craig Copeland said. “EDAC has made a significant number of approvals and administration will be tracking the progress that the nominated individuals are able to make through the immigration system. Immigrants on their path to permanent residency have been an important part of our labour pool and contribute greatly to our local economy, our culture and our quality of life. Cold Lake has many examples of residents who made their way here through economic immigration and have gone on to start their own businesses, sports leagues and become integral parts of our community. We hope that this program is another chapter in that story.”
The Rural Renewal Stream is an economic immigration program run by designated municipalities under the AAIP. The program allows businesses to apply to have positions included in the Rural Renewal Stream job board, and to request a letter of nomination for foreign nationals who are successful in their job applications for the approved positions.
