Junior Emotion Kits |
Identifying and expressing feelings in a positive way can be challenging for most children. Developing skills to manage their feelings effectively in childhood can lead to positive attitudes and behaviours later in life. Channel your young Da Vinci to express themselves on their very own canvas. This program is designed for the whole family to get involved in creating something beautiful. Art is a supportive tool that can be used to focus on strengthening fine motor skills and encourage decision-making in young children. This program will also include a light meal. Youth On Course Junior - 8 Week Summer Program |
Soak up the sun in our 8 week summer program! Participants will go through a golf clinic and play 9 holes of golf each week. This is a great way to meet other junior golfers and perfect for those looking to learn many aspects of the game of golf. Limited Spots! The Babysit Tool Kit Workshop |
Have you taken a babysitting course? Are you looking for additional tools and activities to keep children entertained, while supporting their development? This 3-hour workshop is for babysitters 12 years old and up. Learn fun activities and take-home projects for infants, toddlers, preschoolers and school age children. You will leave with 2 activities per developmental group that you can use when babysitting. Our attitudes and habits regarding money begin to form when we are young. Give the young person in your life the opportunity to explore personal finances in this fun, interactive program. In this program, we will cover the basics of safe banking, needs versus wants, financial goal setting, budgeting, as well as exploring our relationship to money. Community Helpers Training |
The Community Helpers Program helps identify and train youth that are natural helpers. Neighbourhood Block Parties: Building Engaged and Empowered Communities |
Cold Lake and District FCSS, along with its community partners, are building compassionate communities of engaged and empowered people by hosting Neighbourhood Block Parties. NBPs provide opportunities for residents to meet and work together to address community issues and encourage citizens to be active participants in their community. Co-Parenting: How to Develop a Co-Parenting Plan |
This workshop addresses the importance for co-parents to design a collaborative co-parenting plan to ensure their children’s needs and interests are the focus and priority through separation/divorce and beyond. Ideally parents should develop the parenting plan themselves, using the help of professionals focused on supporting their co-parenting efforts. In this session, participants will have the opportunity to draft a co-parenting plan that will provide structure for how their children will be cared for by both parents. Home Alone: The Grub Club Edition |
Children need to feel comfortable, safe and equipped to stay home alone. Guardians will also be equipped with the knowledge and resources to help the children in their care to feel safe, responsible and empowered while at home. This edition will include a light meal prepared by the youth, as they learn to put into practice the safe snacking techniques they received while participating in the session. No Such Thing as a Bully – Kelly’s Summer Boot Camp |
Kelly (RSW), from No Such Thing as a Bully, has partnered with our Cold Lake Bully Free Committee, to host a two-day boot camp on bullying. This is an opportunity to gain skills to recognize, stop and report bullying, and to support bullying prevention. Kelly, will work individually with parents, and then collectively with parents and children, to utilize bullying prevention techniques and tools. This program is specifically designed to target managing anxiety, recognizing fight, flight and freeze responses, as well as, create open discussion for families on bullying. Youth Literacy and Numeracy Volunteer |
FCSS is recruiting youth mentors ages 12 and older to volunteer with our literacy and numeracy enrichment programs, “Word Wizards and Math-a-magicians”. Volunteers will be committing to two hours of volunteering for four weeks at a time. Mentors will be playing literacy and numeracy themed games with children in grades one to four. Mentors will be under the guidance and support of FCSS staff. This is an excellent volunteer opportunity for youth who enjoy working with children and are looking for an opportunity to develop leadership, inter-personal and organizational skills. Shoreline Clean Up |
Cold Lake and District FCSS is pleased to offer the pubic the opportunity to participate in The Great Canadian Shoreline Clean Up at Sandy Beach, on the southwest shores of Cold Lake in the MD of Bonnyville. Volunteers are required to pre-register; as well as wear weather-appropriate clothing, work gloves, boots or hiking shoes. Volunteers are welcome to bring their own garbage picking tools. Volunteers will be required to sign a waiver on-site before participating. Volunteer orientation will happen on-site prior to beginning the cleanup.
