Take note of street signs as some streets have limits on how long you can park. A vehicle must move every 72 hours, or it will be considered abandoned under the Traffic Safety Act and subject to fines or towing. Handicap parking spaces are clearly identified by signage. These spots are for people with official Government of Alberta handicap placards. Parking in a designated handicap parking space without a valid handicap parking placard could result in a fine or towing.
Cold Lake's Traffic Bylaw states motorhomes, holiday trailers, boat trailers and utility trailers can be parked on city streets for no more than 48 hours at one time. This period is to allow for the loading/unloading and cleaning of recreational vehicles. After 48 hours has passed, the vehicle or trailer must be moved from that location for at least 24 hours before it can be parked there again. The fine for exceeding the 48 hour parking limit is $50 and will increase with subsequent offences.
If a vehicle is parked on private property without permission, and you are the property owner or the property owner's representative, you have the right to have the vehicle removed by contacting a towing company.
You may contact Municipal Enforcement and request a Peace Officer attend to attempt to locate the vehicle's owner. Peace Officers cannot have vehicles towed from private property.
