Heritage Day

Heritage Day and Canada 150

The Cold Lake Welcoming and Inclusive Community Committee is proud to be once again hosting Heritage Day celebrations.  This year, we will honor Canada’s 150 years of Confederation.  Cold Lake is rich in history dating back to 1871 when the Chipewyan participated in the fur trade after the first post was built.  Since that time, the city has developed into a community with a diverse ethnic background. Come, enjoy the celebrations and learn some of Canada and Cold Lake’s abundant history. There will be lots to see and hear from storytellers about our Fathers of Confederation, our early settlers of Cold Lake and the relationships between them and our First Nations people.  The multicultural booths will demonstrate that Cold Lake is truly a welcoming community and that we embrace all cultures.  There will be entertainment throughout the event on the main stage and a variety of fun and interactive activities and crafts for the children as we celebrate Canada.
