Energy Centre and Parent Link to close to public

Cold Lake, AB – Following an announcement by the Alberta Government this afternoon, the City of Cold Lake will be making changes to facility operations.

The Parent Link Centre remains closed, though Cold Lake and District FCSS is currently open for limited access.

The Cold Lake Energy Centre will be closed to the public by the end of the day on March 17, 2020, as per guidelines from the Provincial Government. We understand that memberships may be impacted, and compensation or extensions will be considered in due time.

City Hall remains open, though residents are encouraged to practice social distancing by phoning with any inquiries, and refrain from entering the building if you are feeling sick. City Hall can be reached at 780-594-4494.

Included in the Provincial Government release are guidelines such as:

  • Mass gatherings are now limited to no more than 50 attendees. This includes worship gatherings and family events such as weddings. Grocery stores, shopping centres, health-care facilities, airports, the legislature, and other essential services are not included.
  • All Albertans are prohibited from attending public reactional facilities and private entertainment facilities, including gyms, swimming pools, arenas, science centres, museums, art galleries, community centres, children’s play centres, casinos, racing entertainment centres, and bingo halls.
  • Sit-down restaurants, cafes, coffee shops, food courts and other food-serving facilities, are limited to 50 per cent capacity to a maximum of 50 people. Take-out, delivery, or drive-thru service is permitted.
  • At this time, not-for-profit community kitchens, soup kitchens, and religious kitchens are exempt, but sanitization practices are expected to be in place and support will be in place for this practice.
