Wellness Centre equipment gets upgrade

Cold Lake, AB – New cardio equipment has found its home at the Cenovus Energy Wellness Centre, replacing other aging pieces.

“We’re pretty excited to be upgrading this equipment,” said Recreation Manager Jim Fedyk. “We wanted to keep it simple, and make sure we have the latest equipment that people working out are looking to use.”

The original pieces were over seven years old, and were replaced with new Techogym equipment. The treadmills now have a 19” console, where users can play games or watch a video of their jog through nature. They are also Wifi capable.

Replaced equipment includes treadmills, ellipticals, stair climbers, recumbent bikes, upright bikes and rowers.

“We find these to be the most used equipment,” said Fedyk. “We’ve added more treadmills, as they can be very busy during peak times.”

Fedyk noted the Centre has not had rowers before, but two were brought in to see how popular they are. Apart from the treadmills, the rest of the equipment is self-powered.

“Not only will the new equipment save on energy, but it also eliminates the need to run cords along the floor, making for a safer space with less clutter,” added Fedyk.
