Volunteer Appreciation Event 2017

Recognize an outstanding community volunteer by nominating them for a Volunteer Award, which will be presented at the 2017 Volunteer Appreciation Event, Sunday April 23, 2017.

Nomination deadline is March 1, 2017.  All nominees receive a complimentary ticket to the Volunteer Appreciation Event.

Categories:

Coach of the Year

  • Volunteer coaches who offer their time and expertise for the development of sports amongst the children and youth.
  • Volunteer coaches who show commitment to the development of  children and youth as both athletes and community members
  • Coaches display exemplary sportsmanship and encourages sportsmanship among athletes

Rising Star – youth award

  • Awarded to a local youth under the age of 18
  • Volunteerism involves a variety of activities/involvement
  • Shows commitment to volunteer work
  • Demonstrates leadership
  • Is an example to peers and inspires youth to volunteer

Community Impact– individual award

  • Volunteer who co-ordinated or participated in activities or events which have made a powerful  social impact on the community.
  • Nominee’s volunteerism addresses a community need or deficiency
  • Through their volunteerism, nominee has improved the lives of community members or the community overall
  • Nominee is an ambassador for local volunteerism who inspires others to invest their time and skills to volunteer in Cold Lake and District

Community Impact- group award

  • Volunteer organization has co-ordinated or participated in an activity or event which has made a powerful visual, economic or social impact on the community.
  • Organization’s volunteerism addresses a community need or deficiency
  • Through their volunteerism, nominee has improved the lives of community members or the community overall
  • The organization are ambassadors for local volunteerism who inspires others to invest their time and skills to volunteer in Cold Lake and District

Behind the Scenes

  • The volunteer nominated should have at least 5 years of service as a volunteer.
  • Volunteer should be one who works in the background.
  • The nominee should be the one who participates in laying the ground work, building foundation for a project(s) or event.
  • The volunteer could be the person who ensures that all the tear-down and clean-up is done after an event, is a treasurer/bookkeeper, etc.

Newbie of the Year
Volunteer would have been in service to the community between 3 months to 1 year, and gave outstanding service during that time.

  • Nominee demonstrates an interest in a variety of volunteer involvement
  • Nominee shows commitment and enthusiasm toward their volunteer tasks

Protector of the Environment

  • Volunteer who made considerable effort to preserve the environment (beaches, waterways, forests, and wildlife)
  • Volunteer may have engaged in educational programmes to advocate for waste reduction, sustainable development, community outreach, respect for the environment or any other area which was related to the protection of the environment.
  • Volunteer use peaceful means to advocate for change and conservation

Lifetime Achievement Award– 55 year of age and up

  • Nominee has been a volunteer in various capacities and with a number of organizations during their lifetime
  • Nominee exemplifies commitment, reliability, and a desire to help others and our community
  • The nominee displays leadership and inspires other to volunteer

Volunteer Appreciation Event Tickets

Recognize and thank your organization’s volunteers in a fun, cost-efficient way.  Tickets are available at Cold Lake and District FCSS, 5220-54 Street for $10.00 each.  Tickets are limited to 200.  Imperial oil and our community partners generously sponsor this event.
