Public Notice: Cold Lake Check-in Centre will open Sunday, May 8

Due to steady demand, the Cold Lake Check-in Centre for people displaced by the Fort McMurray wildfire will be open from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm on Sunday, May 8.

As of this afternoon, the Check-in Centre saw 374 registrations. Staff at the centre are also helping to connect evacuees in need with organizations and individuals in the community who have offered donations and assistance.

The Check-in Centre is located at Cold Lake and District FCSS, 5220 - 54 Street, and can be reached at 780-594-4495 or via email at fcss@coldlake.com.

People who want to make donations are asked to donate cash to the Canadian Red Cross or the Cold Lake Food Bank.

Donations to the Cold Lake Food Bank can be arranged by calling 780-201-6589.

In addition to cash, the Cold Lake Food Bank is taking donations of a specific list of items for evacuees. All items must be new – used items will not be accepted. The acceptable donations are: unperishable food items, deodorant, shaving products, Kleenex, feminine hygiene products, underwear, socks, hair brushes, hair ties, basic first aid supplies, gift cards, gas cards, phone chargers and basic school supplies.
