Early Childhood Development and Care

This core service includes programs that help build parents' and caregivers' skills and confidence in providing nurturing environments for their children. They address the needs of all types of parents, regardless of family structure or socio-economic background. Programs may include formal and informal workshops and seminars on issues related to parenting and early childhood development. These childhood development posters show the ages and stages of the six main skills children need for proper development. The skills begin developing at birth and peak at the age of six.

It is important to understand that all children do not progress at the same rate or time, and that children may achieve various developmental milestones earlier or later than the average, but still be within the normal range. If you have any questions about your child's development, you may contact the Parent Link Centre or contact the Early Childhood Development Coordinator at Alberta Health Services at 780-594-4404.
