NPWW: Raise the Flag Kick-off

In celebration of National Public Works Week 2017, the public is invited to attend a flag-raising ceremony on May 19 to kick off the following week of events. You can read more about other events coming up for National Public Works Week here.

NPWW Food Drive

Food Drive is taking place on May 26, from 9 am to 6 pm in the Sobeys and No Frills parking lots. Donations will be given to the Cold Lake Food Bank.

Come and see the inner workings of the Water Treatment Plant! Open to the public on Saturday, May 27, from 12 pm to 4 pm.

2017 Toxic Round Up

Round up your electronics, paint, and household hazardous wastes and bring them to the Public Works Shop for proper disposal. The Round Up is on from 10 am to 2 pm on May 27.

Join us at the Imperial Oil Place Arena for the National Public Works Week Open House, from 9 am to 3 pm. 

School's Out - Lunch Box heroes

School’s Out Lunch Box Heroes – Ages 9 to 12

This hands-on cooking program will inspire youth to think outside the lunch box, and give them the skills to pack their own lunches. We cover the basics of kitchen safety, knife safety, and food handling hygiene. Participants will be making several easy, fun, and tasty lunch recipes. Participants are asked to bring closed-toe shoes, a water bottle, and to tie up long hair.

Home Alone

Home Alone – Ages 9 to 12

This program aims to empower youth to feel confident and capable when they are home alone. We will discuss being responsible when left alone, safe snacking, cyber safety, and dealing with friends and siblings. A member of Emergency Services will present a safety demonstration in the afternoon. Please bring a nut-free lunch and a water bottle. A parent or guardian is required to attend the first 45 minutes of the program.

Bus Trip - St. Albert Children's Festival

Bus Trip: St. Albert Children’s Festival – Ages 8 and up

St. Albert hosts a wonderful experience for children and families. The Children’s Festival bridges art, culture and education with multi-cultural performers and magical site activities. Please wear weather appropriate clothing, closed-toe walking shoes and a hat. Pack a water bottle, sunscreen, snacks and a nut-free lunch. The bus departs from FCSS at 7:00 am and returns at 8:30 pm.
